Paws and Reflect

New Year's Resolutions for Dogs

The beginning of a new year is a great time to reflect on all of the epic walks taken, tugs-of-war won, table scraps gobbled, and a time to plan for even more excitement in the 365 days ahead. This short list of resolutions will guide canines to unleash their inner aspirations and wag their way into 2024. Grab your favorite squeaky toy, open up the special occasion treats, and get ready for some toe-tapping resolutions that will make this year the best one yet.

Resolution #1: Bark Less, Wag More

This year, let's challenge ourselves to be more mindful of our vocal talents. Instead of barking at every squirrel, leaf, or mail carrier, let's channel that energy into some quality tail-wagging. After all, a wagging tail speaks louder than a thousand barks.

Resolution #2: Embrace the Zoomies

Zoomies – that inexplicable burst of energy where we race around the house like maniacs. More technically speaking, zoomies are Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs). On January First, let's fully embrace the zoomies and make them a daily ritual. Whether it's first thing in the morning (watch out for the human with a cup of coffee or hot tea!), in the evening right after the baby has been put to sleep, or just because the mood strikes – unleash the zoomies!

Resolution #3: Personalize Your Fetch Style

Fetching the ball might seem like a simple game but it doesn't have to be. Let's take it to the next level and define the art of fetch – not just by returning the ball, but by adding a stylish spin, jump, and maybe even an ear flip. Oh, and be sure that your hooman says "drop it" at least five times before actually dropping your awesomely fetched item. You will definitely make "fetch" happen this year.

Resolution #4: Snuggle Expertise

We dogs have an innate talent for snuggling and providing comfort to our human companions. Whether it's the classic spoon position, the cozy head-on-lap maneuver, or the legendary bed hog, let's deliver expert snuggling more thoughtfully and frequently. Our humans also have their own resolutions and trails in the year ahead – let's put our expertise to work! A well-executed snuggle can turn any rough day into a pawsitively delightful one.

Resolution #5: Sniff New Territories

This year, let's explore new territories, whether it's the neighbor's yard, the local dog park, or the new brewery pouring pints and treating pups to biscuits made from spent grain. Who knows what exciting scents we might discover and dog-friendly spots we will enjoy? The world is our backyard, so let's lift our paws and sniff out the many welcoming spaces for us!

Tail-Wagging Resolutions Ahead

Let's make 2024 the year of tail-wagging triumphs, epic fetch sessions, and snuggle marathons that are like no year before. Here's to a year filled with treats, belly rubs, and the joy of being human's best friend! Happy New Year, and may your kibble bowl always be full!
